Working with Our Gen Z Team

One of the best things about owning a coffee shop is working with our Gen Z team. Here’s why:

1. They are direct: Our Gen Z employees are assertive and not afraid to give suggestions to improve Crown. I love that. It creates an environment of open communication and mutual respect. If something isn’t working, they say so. Sometimes, I suggest a cool TikTok idea, and they will tell me without hesitation that it’s cringy. I welcome their constructive criticism because they have a different view of the world, know the latest trends, and bring a youthful vibe to our shop.

2. They are collaborative: Our team constantly comes up with new ideas! Since owning the shop, we’ve added some unique monthly specials. In April, during the eclipse, they created the “Cosmic S'mores Cold Brew.” It’s a cold brew with cream, Ghirardelli chocolate, toasted marshmallow flavoring, and marshmallow fluff. It was an absolute hit, all thanks to them.

3. Their work ethic is strong: Our Gen Z team juggles a lot of responsibilities and still shows up every day with a great attitude. Many of the staff are going to college, working other jobs, thinking of starting their own businesses, and are active in the community.

4. They are hilarious: I can come in with an empty tank and leave feeling 100X better because I’m surrounded by people who don’t take themselves too seriously. They are witty, and we are constantly laughing.

Owning a business is hard, but our Gen Z team makes the lift a little less heavy. They have become some of my favorite people and contribute to the success of Crown in countless ways. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
